Pelvic Pain Disorders
Pelvic pain is a common occurrence in women, but is not widely spoken about. Pelvic pain can include pain or altered sensations in the groin, internal and external genitals, rectal area, coccyx and inner thighs.
Common symptoms of pelvic pain include:
- Pain or discomfort with intercourse or inability to have penetrative intercourse
- Tightness through the entrance of the vaginal opening
- Painful pap smears
- Painful periods
- Pain with tampon use or inability to use a tampon
- Painful bladder symptoms
Common Causes of pelvic pain include:
- Overactivity of pelvic floor muscles
- Endometriosis
- Abuse and anxiety
- Trauma from vaginal or caesarean births
- Scar Tissue tightness
- Fracture or trauma to the coccyx
- Poor co-ordination of the pelvic floor
- Skin and tissue disorders
