Pilates and back pain

Control of the deep abdominal muscles plays an integral part in the health of your back. Those with a history of lower back pain have been shown to have diminished strength and control in the muscles that stabilise the spine. Isolating and strengthening these muscles in a controlled way can dramatically improve day to day function and reduce the frequency and intensity of back pain.

Are the classes right for me?

All classes at Freshwater Physio are conducted in small groups. Pilates suits those with injuries as well as those looking for general strength and health benefits.

Before you attend your first class, an initial 1-1 session must be booked with one of our physiotherapists. This allows us the opportunity to assess your situation and ensure you are able to contract your core muscles appropriately.

Terms and Conditions for all packages: class packages are non-refundable and non-transferrable. Valid for 12 months from date of purchase. A receipt for claiming can be provided once all classes have been completed.

Cancellation Policy: we have a strict 12 hour cancellation policy for all class bookings. Cancellations made within this time will be deducted from your package.
