Dance Assessments

Progressing onto pointe is an exciting time for any ballet dancer but is also a time where care should be taken to ensure the transition is safe and injury free. Pointe work is more than having strong ankles and feet; its about looking at the dancer as a whole.

Our resident dance physio Nicole has undergone specific training to assess and manage:

  • Classical ballet technique
  • Turnout range and strength
  • Foot and ankle strength and fallibility
  • Postural control and endurance
  • Core stability.

All dance assessments are 45 minutes in length and by the end of the session the dancers and parents will have a thorough understanding of what is required to commence pointe safely. A home exercise program will be provided to complete if the dancer is not ready. Once the assessment has been passed a letter of approval will be provided to your dance teacher.
