SPGMove | exercise physiology-led small group movement
SPGMove is our exercise physiology-led strength stream. Whether you want to build muscle, invest in your long-term health, or work toward a specific physical goal – this is where you do it. Every client starts with a one-on-one consult, leaves with their own program, and trains in a small group environment with expert guidance throughout.
Two class styles. One team. A program built around you.
Available at SPG Freshwater and SPG North Ryde.
Thrive
Stay strong, steady, and independent for the long haul
A longevity-focused strength class for active adults who want to keep doing the things they love for years to come. Thrive focuses on bone density, functional strength, balance, and coordination.
Sessions run as a guided circuit with moderate weights and higher rep ranges, and your load is individualised within the shared structure.
No previous resistance training experience required. Whether you’re picking up weights for the first time or have been training for years, you’ll find your place here.
Strong
Train with purpose. Make progress you can measure.
A goal-specific strength class where every client has their own individual program, built around what they’re actually trying to achieve. Programs are updated 4-6 weeks so you’re always moving forward, not just going through the motions.
Sessions are lower rep, higher load, and structured as upper, lower, or full body depending on your goals.
Beginners are coached through every movement. Experienced lifters get a program built for their actual goals.
Not sure where to start?
That's exactly what your EP initial consult is for. They'll talk through your goals, assess where you're starting from, and recommend the right fit class- or a combination of both.
How it works
Every new SPGMove client goes through the same two-session process before their first class. This is how we make sure you arrive prepared, confident, and with a program that's actually built for you.
Session 1 - EP Initial Consult
A one-on-one session with your exercise physiologist. They'll take a full history, talk through your goals, and run baseline strength testing using our VALD system; giving you objective data on where you're starting from and a benchmark to track your progress against. At the end of the session they'll recommend the right class, starting loads, and program structure.
For some clients, a course of 1:1 EP sessions is the right starting point - not because they're not ready for class, but because individual sessions offer a level of clinical focus and personalisation that sets you up even better for the long term.
Session 2 - Program Walkthrough
Once your EP has written your program, you'll come back - ideally a few days later - to go through every movement together. By the time you walk into your first class, you'll already know your program, your technique, and your loads.
No surprises on day one. Just a class you're ready for.

Progress you can see
All SPGMove clients are baseline tested using VALD — the same technology used by professional sports teams and leading physio and sports medicine clinics worldwide. It gives your EP objective, real-time data on your strength and movement, so your program is built on evidence rather than guesswork — and your progress is measurable, not just a feeling.
Retesting happens at 8–12 weeks, so you can see exactly how far you’ve come.

FAQ's
Do I have to do both sessions before I can join a class?
Yes – and it’s worth it. The two sessions mean you arrive at your first class knowing your program, your movements, and your starting loads. It makes the experience better for you, and will give you the confidence to move safely and thrive.
Can I do both Thrive and Strong?
Absolutely – many clients do. They serve different purposes and complement each other well. Your EP can help you figure out how to structure your week so both classes work together.
How often should I train?
We recommend a minimum of 2 sessions per week for meaningful progress. 3 sessions is ideal for most clients. Your EP will give you a specific recommendation based on your goals at your initial consult.
Can I combine SPGMove with SPGFocus?
Yes. SPGMove and SPGFocus are designed as parallel streams and many clients combine them. If you’re doing clinical exercise or Bumps and Bubs through SPGFocus, adding a Thrive or Strong class is often a natural complement. Talk to your physio or EP about the right combination for you.
Is SPGMove claimable on my health fund?
SPGMove classes may be claimable under health fund extras. They may be covered under some chronic disease management plans (eg diabetes management). Check with your fund or speak to your GP if you’re unsure.
